Objeto de la convocatoria

 

Tras la amplia participación de la I Edición de Performances Mínimas Urbanas en Vídeo “Cuerpo Urbano en Acción”, lanzamos una II Edición adaptada a estos tiempos de cuarentena por el Covid-19, en el que el concepto de “cuerpo urbano en acción” ha cambiado.

En tiempos de confinamiento la creatividad fluye a borbotones ante la prohibición del acceso libre al espacio público. Sale desde la casa hacia el balcón para abrir unas vías intermedias que transitan entre dentro y fuera, entre lo público y lo privado, entre lo individual y lo colectivo, entre lo permitido y lo prohibido. El cambio de la actividad habitual, el trabajo telemático, la falta de contacto público, la acción restringida, el aburrimiento, la incertidumbre, el miedo…, dan paso en ocasiones a lo absurdo para romper con la rutina, dando lugar a unas acciones virales que nos contagian a través de las redes para abrir una frontera entre el arte y la vida, el arte y el no arte.

Por definición, el confinamiento implica habitar un territorio limítrofe, fronterizo; que muchas veces es rebasado, pero justificado por su mismo trazo ambiguo e inestable. Por ello, en esta convocatoria queremos recopilar acciones mínimas, que vayan desde lo más íntimo e imperceptible hasta lo público y visible, en sus diferentes límites. En ocasiones, ese territorio fronterizo y ambiguo de lo privado y lo público, entre la casa y el espacio urbano, pasa a ser los balcones; y otras veces, se accede al espacio urbano manteniendo unos límites invisibles de distancia y de protección corporal en nuestra relación con los otros para no ser contagiados y al mismo tiempo de no ser acusados de quebrantar los límites de lo que es permitido o prohibido; con lo que se lleva a autoproducirse insospechadas acciones corporales performativas inverosímiles.

Buscamos vídeos de corta duración (máximo 2´), grabados con móviles, cámaras, webcams… en los que se registre una pequeña performance (realizada por artistas o no-artistas) que haya tenido lugar durante este periodo del estado de alarma por el coronavirus y durante las fechas de esta convocatoria. Acciones mínimas callejeras -realizadas en esos desplazamientos permitidos dentro de la legalidad y la seguridad; acciones mínimas caseras (en el interior o en el balcón); individuales o colectivas, en el espacio físico o virtual por vía telemática…, que muestren gestos mínimos performativos en la vida confinada.

El concepto de acción “mínima” no es solo cuantitativa por su duración (que inclusive puede ser mayor si es un extracto de una acción repetitiva), sino que también es cualitativa por su significación ambivalente (minimum-maximum, relevante-intranscendente, apercibida-desapercibida, insólita o banal) que conlleva otras formas de relacionarnos con los ámbitos públicos y/o privados que habitamos y compartimos como vecinos insólitos, transeúntes-fantasmas, u hogareños exóticos.

Buscamos vídeos sencillos o más elaborados (inclusive videoperpormances o performances telemáticas) que muestren “Cuerpos (no)Urbanos en acción” en su doble acepción urbana y no-urbana durante las restricciones del periodo de cuarentena y de post-cuarentena progresiva, que irá del aislamiento hacia el distanciamiento (en el caso que se modifique este estado de alarma con otras medidas durante las fechas de esta convocatoria del festival). La finalidad es realizar con todos los vídeos seleccionados un festival de espíritu nómada, con la exhibición monográfica de sus resultados en diferentes territorios del mundo. Este festival tiene como objetivos principales:

•  La creación de un espacio de encuentro virtual donde visibilizar diferentes maneras de hacer y entender la performance en tiempos de cuarentena: la presencia en la calle o en casa a través de la acción (no)artística mínima. 

 

• Fomentar la experimentación de la performance "potencial" surgida por la superación de las trabas y límites del acceso al espacio urbano. Sacar la máxima potencialidad de las limitaciones con el fin de producir una re-significación y una re-conversión en las relaciones entre espacio y cuerpo. 

 

• Extender y difundir la proyección de las propuestas en diferentes espacios, nacionales e internacionales a lo largo del año, tanto en ámbitos universitarios como en espacios de arte y centros alternativos, estableciendo lazos de conexión e intercambio de experiencias. Esta proyección será también “potencial” y creativa dentro de los límites que permitan esas fechas, realizándose tanto en espacios físicos como digitales.

 

•  Generar una plataforma digital (página web) de difusión que recoja todas las propuestas seleccionadas, así como una publicación digital con ISBN.

 

El Festival Internacional de Performances Mínimas Urbanas (confinadas) en Vídeo “Cuerpo (No)Urbano en Acción”, es de espíritu nómada y se plantea como un dispositivo portátil digital que será proyectado en salas y espacios de arte de distintos países a través del profesorado universitario colaborador, así como de gestores de salas de arte o de otras iniciativas alternativas, físicas y digitales, a nivel individual o colectivo. Como memoria final de este festival se realizará un catálogo digital de todas las propuestas seleccionadas.

Instrucciones para participar

​

 

1. Podrán participar artistas o no-artistas de cualquier disciplina o sin ella, con una  pieza de vídeo que recoja una performance/acción realizada en tiempos de confinamiento y en sus posibles cambios que hubiera hasta la fecha de finalización de esta convocatoria. El lenguaje del vídeo puede ir desde el simple registro documental a la creación de una  vídeoperformance o de una acción telemática.

2. La duración máxima de los vídeos no será superior a 2 minutos y en el mismo vídeo deben figurar al menos el título, nombre del/a/s artistas, fecha de la acción y de realización del vídeo (día/mes/año) y lugar de realización (casa o calle, ciudad y país). De haber parte hablada, debe ir subtitulada en inglés. 

3. Las obras serán enviadas en formato mp4, por intercambio de ficheros, al siguiente correo electrónico: urbanbodyinaction@gmail.com

4.  Junto al email debe anexarse un documento de texto con los siguientes datos (deberán figurar -al menos- en castellano y en inglés):

5. La fecha límite de recepción será hasta el 1 de junio de 2020, inclusive.

 

6. Lxs artistas o no-artistas seleccionadxs serán informados por correo electrónico antes del 30 de junio.

 

7. Con los vídeos seleccionados se realizará una recopilación videográfica conjunta para ser exhibida y una publicación digital en pdf.

 

8. Los videos seleccionados se difundirán en diferentes espacios expositivos, salas de proyecciones a nivel internacional, y difusión digital por redes, prevista desde septiembre de 2020. Dependiendo de la evolución del estado de alarma y sus restricciones, se podrá extender hasta el 2021.

 

9. Lxs artistas o no-artistas seleccionadxs pasarán a formar parte de la base de datos de la página del festival, por lo que deben autorizar el empleo de sus obras para fines de difusión y promoción en medios  impresos o digitales, sin ánimo de lucro.

 

10. La participación en este festival implica la total aceptación de sus bases.

After the broad participation of the 1st Edition of Urban Minimum Performances in Video “Urban Body in Action”, we launched an II Edition adapted to these times of quarantine by Covid-19, in which the concept of “urban body in action ”has changed.

In times of confinement, creativity gushes in the face of the prohibition of free access to public space. It leaves from the house towards the balcony to open intermediate routes that pass between inside and outside, between the public and the private, between the individual and the collective, between the permitted and the forbidden. The change of habitual activity, telematic work, lack of public contact, restricted action, boredom, uncertainty, fear ... sometimes give way to the absurd to break the routine, leading to viral actions that they infect us through networks to open a border between art and life, art and non-art.

 

By definition, confinement implies inhabiting a bordering, bordering territory; that many times it is exceeded, but justified by its very ambiguous and unstable line. For this reason, in this call we want to collect minimal actions, ranging from the most intimate and imperceptible to the public and visible, in its different limits. Sometimes, that bordering and ambiguous territory of the private and the public, between the house and the urban space, becomes the balconies; and other times, the urban space is accessed maintaining invisible limits of distance and bodily protection in our relationship with others so as not to be infected and at the same time not to be accused of breaking the limits of what is allowed or prohibited; thus leading to unsuspected self-produced improper performative bodily actions.

 

We are looking for short videos (maximum 2´), recorded with mobile phones, cameras, webcams... in which a small performance (performed by artists or non-artists) that has taken place during this period of the state of alarm by the coronavirus is recorded and during the dates of this call. Minimum street actions - carried out in those displacements allowed within the law and security; minimum home actions (indoors or on the balcony); individual or collective, in the physical or virtual space by electronic means..., that show minimal performative gestures in the confined life.

 

The concept of “minimum” action is not only quantitative due to its duration (which may even be longer if it is an extract from a repetitive action), but it is also qualitative due to its ambivalent significance (minimum-maximum, relevant-inconsequential, perceived). unnoticed, unusual or banal) that involves other ways of relating to the public and/or private spheres that we inhabit and share as unusual neighbors, ghost passers-by, or exotic homemakers.

 

We are looking for simple or more elaborate videos (including video-performances or telematic performances) that show “Urban (Not)Urban Bodies in Action” in its double urban and non-urban meaning during the restrictions of the quarantine period and the progressive post-quarantine period (in the case that this alarm state is modified with other measures during the dates of this call for the festival). The aim is to carry out a nomadic spirit festival with all the selected videos, with the monographic exhibition of their results in different territories of the world. This festival has as main objectives:

 

• The creation of a virtual meeting space where to visualize different ways of doing and understanding performance in times of quarantine: presence on the street or at home through minimal (not)artistic action.

 

• Encourage experimentation of "potential" performance arising from overcoming obstacles and limits of access to urban space. Take maximum potentiality out of limitations in order to produce a re-meaning and a re-conversion in the relationships between space and body.

 

• Extend and disseminate the projection of the proposals in different spaces, national and international throughout the year, both in university settings and in art spaces and alternative centers, establishing ties of connection and exchange of experiences. This projection will also be "potential" and creative within the limits allowed by those dates, taking place both in physical and digital spaces.

 

• Generate a digital dissemination platform (web page) that collects all the selected proposals, as well as a digital publication.

 

The International Festival of Minimal Urban Performances (confined) in Video "Body (Not)Urban in Action", is nomadic in spirit and is proposed as a digital portable device that will be projected in rooms and art spaces of different countries through teachers Collaborating university, as well as managers of art rooms or other alternative initiatives, physical and digital, individually or collectively. As a final memory of this festival, a digital catalog of all the selected proposals will be made.

 

Instructions to participate

 

1. Artists or non-artists of any discipline may participate or without it, with a video piece that includes a performance/action carried out in times of confinement and its possible changes that may exist until the end date of this call. The language of the video can go from the simple documentary record to the creation of a video performance or a telematic action.

 

2. The maximum duration of the videos will not be more than 2 minutes and the same video must include at least the title, name of the artist (s), date of the action and of making the video (day/month/year) and place of performance (house or street, city and country). If there is a spoken part, it must be subtitled in English.

 

3. The works will be sent in mp4 format, by file exchange, to the following email: urbanbodyinaction@gmail.com

 

4. A text document with the following information must be attached to the email (they must appear -at least- in Spanish and English):

5. The reception deadline will be until June 1, 2020, inclusive.

 

6. Selected artists or non-artists will be informed by email before June 30.

 

7. With the selected videos a joint videographic compilation will be made to be exhibited and a digital publication in pdf.

 

8. The selected videos will be disseminated in different exhibition spaces, projection rooms at an international level, and digital dissemination through networks, scheduled for September 2020. Depending on the evolution of the alarm state and its restrictions, it may be extended until 2021.

 

9. The selected artists or non-artists will become part of the database of the festival page, so they must authorize the use of their works for purposes of dissemination and promotion in print or digital, non-profit media. .

 

10. Participation in this festival implies full acceptance of its rules.
