Una ciudad natal tranquila que se convirtió en un lugar turístico ocupado durante algunas décadas ha estado sufriendo los pasos de los turistas hambrientos de naturaleza. Las nubes geotérmicas, tanto naturales como de infraestructuras canalizadas, son los umbrales indómitos que separan lo urbano y lo rural. Ahí es donde Gudrita envuelve una espuma de polietileno encontrada alrededor de un pino solitario.

A quiet hometown turning into a busy touristic place over a few decades has been suffering from the footsteps of the natural hungry tourists. Geothermal clouds, both natural and from piped infrastructures are the untamed thresholds that separate the urban and the rural. That is where a Gudrita wraps a found polyethylene foam around a lone pine tree.

• Statement

​

Gudrita Lape estudió en la Academia de Arte de Islandia y, más recientemente, profundizó en la fabricación digital en la Fabricademy de Barcelona. Ha sido una nómada fatalista desde el vientre de su madre y eso inevitablemente juega un papel importante en su forma de crear. Objetos y tejidos reciclados, nostálgicos o táctiles son sus camaradas intuitivos en el mundo del arte donde crea instalaciones móviles y performances.

 

Gudrita Lape studied at the Iceland Art Academy and more recently dug into digital fabrication at the Fabricademy in Barcelona. She has been a fatalistic nomad since her time in her mother’s womb and it inevitably plays a major role in her way of creating. Recycled, nostalgic, or tactile objects and fabrics are her intuitive comrades in the art world where she creates mobile installations and performances.
