¿Cómo subtitular los ruidos? Sonido de pájaro cantando, aguja atravesando la tela, hilo rasgando lienzo...
Lo rural es perteneciente o relativo a la vida del campo y a sus labores. Los ritmos de vida son más relajados, conllevan una “resistencia corporal” contra el mundo cotidiano, que en lo citadino exigen velocidad, rendimiento, funcionalidad. El bordado es como el campo, se necesita de buena luz para no dañar la vista (el sol es fundamental para la vida citadina y rural), se necesita encontrar una superficie sobre la cual extenderse (sembrar en el campo), preparar el espacio sobre el que se atravesará la aguja (identificar el tipo de terreno dónde se va sembrar algo). Las ciudades forman una maraña de hilos suspendidos, telarañas de relaciones intrincadas que buscan una forma pero se mantienen aisladas, sin relaciones de intercambio o parentesco. En lo rural, la Naturaleza se va entretejiendo y desplegando en colores sobre el lienzo que es la tierra, cada hilo forma un entramado comunitario del que brota la vida en la trama del tiempo.

How to subtitle the noises? Sound of a bird singing, a needle piercing the fabric, a thread ripping the canvas...
The rural is pertaining or relative to the life of the field and its work. The rhythms of life are more relaxed, they entail a "body resistance" against the everyday world, which in the city demands speed, performance, functionality. Embroidery is like the field, it needs good light to not damage the view (the sun is essential for city and rural life), it is necessary to find a surface on which to spread (sow in the field), prepare the space on which the needle will cross (identify the type of land where something is going to be planted). The cities form a tangle of suspended threads, cobwebs of intricate relationships that seek a form but remain isolated, without relations of exchange or kinship. In rural areas, Nature interweaves and unfolds in colors on the canvas that is the earth, each thread forms a network community from which life sprouts in the fabric of time.

Meliflua, diseñadora, artista e investigadora de la levedad. Actualmente es doctoranda en Artes Visuales en la Facultad de Artes y Diseño de la UNAM y forma parte del programa Proyecto Imaginario Latinoamérica 2022.
Se elige una palabra como método detonador de situaciones y encuentros: releer, trazar, fragmentar, enredar y conversar, poéticas de la levedad.

 

Meliflua, designer, artist and researcher of lightness. She is currently a doctoral student in Visual Arts at the Faculty of Arts and Design at UNAM and is part of the Proyecto Imaginario Latinoamérica 2022 program.
A word is chosen as a method to detonate situations and encounters: reread, trace, fragment, entangle and converse, poetics of lightness.
